5 Products I’ve Been Loving This Year

Can you believe we’re already half way through December?

2016’s been quite the rollercoaster of a year and my god where has it gone?  It seems like yesterday that me and Jack were sat in The Frog and Bucket comedy club laughing our way into the new year… how time flies eh?

So as 2016 draws to a close I thought what better time than now to let you know the top five products I’ve been loving all year long.  This post definitely goes out to all my fitness girls in terms of the products I’ve picked.

Grounded Coffee Scrub in Grapefruit scent

Now if you’re not a fan of mess then this is not the body scrub for you… picture rubbing loose coffee into your skin. Mess and spillage will occur! Once you get passed the giant mess, I honestly think this might be the best damn body scrub I have ever used.  The smell is amazing; think a strong brewed coffee with a refreshing zing. I don’t know if I’d immediately say grapefruit but it’s wonderful all the same. The actual scrub slowly dissolves into the water as you rub it in helping to really exfoliate your skin. Once washed off you’re left with a silky film layer leaving your skin feeling very soft and moisturised. I wouldn’t use this everyday because it is an abrasive scrub but a few times a week, particularly after a really sweaty ‘sesh’, feels like heaven.

Pro Fitness Cast Dumbbell set

As a huge fan of home workouts I’m a big believer that you don’t need a gym membership to stay fit. As you can imagine this makes me a bodyweight workout kinda gal. That being said I decided to make 2016 the year of trying new things and got to dabbling in weight lifting (a new love I might add).  I picked up the Pro Fitness Cast Dumbbell set from Argos for around £20 and they have been worth every penny. They go up to a maximum of 20kg and because the weight is adjustable they’re great for both my arm and leg workouts as well as a progressive overload style routine.  These dumbbells are a fantastic edition to any home gym or for anyone who is thinking of adding weights into their routing. I can’t fault them!

Mermaid Pointe Legging

These Popflex leggings were gifted to me from Jack and I have to say when I first got them I was a bit skeptical. The fabric is extremely soft and glides over the skin as you put them on so I pictured having to stop and readjust after every squat. Boy was I wrong! Not only are these leggings extremely comfortable but once on they stay put and fit like a dream. The large waist band sits quite high, just below my bellybutton, helping to keep them up no matter how much you move or how low you squat and the mesh detailing on the side adds a bit of ‘badassness’ to an otherwise very feminine design. I found the fabric really breathable and the light and colourful pattern helps to hide any sweaty patches…no one wants to look like they’ve peed themselves in the gym!

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

As someone who is plagued by dry skin I often find so many make up removers and cleansers with rave reviews that do nothing but strip my skin of all moisture and leave my face red and sore. God forbid I use anything that foams, just at the thought I can already feel the dry patches forming.  After a lot of trial and error I think I can finally say I have found my Holy Grail cleanser in the form of the Deep Cleansing Oil by DHC. I use one to two pumps of the oil and rub it into dry skin then watch as my makeup just melts away. There is no fragrance and no greasy feeling. The oil is then easy rinsed off with water and I take a soft damp wash cloth and go over my face once more to make sure I’ve gotten all of the product off. Because this is an oil it doesn’t strip away any of the precious little oil in my own skin and leaves my skin feeling so soft and moisturised afterwards. Since using this cleanser I’ve also seen a huge improvement in my skin throughout the day. I would 100% recommend this product to any fellow dry skin sufferers out there.

Protein Works Diet Whey Protein Isolate 90

I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to protein and have only just started adding shakes into my routine. After starting with pea protein and absolutely hating it…let me know if you have any suggestions on getting past the taste because I just couldn’t stomach it…I’ve moved onto the more forgiving flavoured proteins and I get mine in Strawberries ‘n’ Cream. This tastes delicious. Just like a strawberry milkshake and there is no need to hold your nose and force it down. I particularly love the Diet Whey Protein Isolate from Protein Works because it is much lower in carbohydrates and is very low in lactose. Though if you’re not looking for any kind of calorie restriction and have no issues with lactose concentrate protein is much easier on the purse strings.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and some of the things you’ve been loving this year.

Thanks, Megan x
